Gemini Omni brings knowledge-grounded video to YouTube Shorts

Launched at I/O 2026, Gemini Omni — first model Omni Flash — combines image, audio, video and text input to generate video "grounded in Gemini's real-world knowledge." It is rolling out across the Gemini app, Google Flow and, notably, YouTube Shorts at no cost.

The distribution is the point. Putting a capable video model behind the Shorts create button hands generation to a mass audience that was never going to open a specialist tool. That is how a capability stops being a novelty and becomes infrastructure.
